"VOTE, AN EDUCATED VOTE"
What is an educated vote? It is one that has been made with as much knowledge, based on facts, not misinformation, that an individual can obtain.

Opening note.
Greetings! Had a bit of a fall last night. Messed up my leg a little. Finally, went to sleep and over slept, thus the reason for a couple of hours late getting to you.
For those of you who are Mothers, I hope you had a real nice day. For those of you who have Mothers, I hope you told them how much they are truly appreciated.
There will be an OBOF EXTRA out on Friday the 18th, probably about 6:00 p.m. There is a great deal to cover and the regularly schedule OBOF will be out next Tuesday the 22nd, hopefully by noon.

"CONTEMPLATING LIFE"
This is the sixth of a series of essays that I told you about sometime ago. By way of clarification, I will open with the first paragraphs of the last CL posting, which will lead us right into this essay.
I want to tell you about an incredible man. He was born in the poorest of the poor. Despite unbelievable odds in his early years, he managed to get through early school years and went on to obtain a Ph. D. in economics. It just isn't possible to imagine the obstacles he faced and conquered to get to that point.
He was a Professor of Economics Emeritus, Eastern Illinois University . After retiring, he spent 11 years trying to educate the public about the great Social Security fraud by Congresses stealing $2.6 trillion from the SS Trust Fund. He has written 7 books on both Social Security and Economics.
Also, for the past 17 years he has been writing weekly essays "Contemplating Life," that are published in five newspapers in Arizona, Florida, Tennessee, Illinois, and Virginia. He has compiled 77 of these essays into a book and it is from these 77 that I am going to post some of the essays.
The reason for telling you this is that the Tuesday between the Tuesdays that I post the "Opinions Based On Facts," I am going to post one of the essays from the book, "Contemplating Life."
The man that I have been talking about is Allen W. Smith Ph. D. and I have the greatest respect and admiration for him. I have found these essays to be very enlightening and comforting. I hope you will also.

AN ESSAY FROM THE BOOK
"CONTEMPLATING LIFE"
BY
Allen W. Smith Ph.D.
“For every problem under the sun, there is a solution or there is none, if there be one try and find it, if there be none never mind it. ”
--Anonymous
I don’t know the origin of the above rhyme, but ever since I came across it many years ago it has been a basic part of my philosophy of life. Many people would probably view it as just a silly little rhyme and have great difficulty in seeing how anybody could use it as a cornerstone of life’s compass, but there is a lot of wisdom in those few words.
First of all, we will all face many problems as we journey through life. Some of those problems will have solutions and some will not. We must focus on those problems that can be solved and do everything in our power to solve them. But for those problems that have no solution, we must learn to just accept them as best we can and get on with our lives. In my mind, it is senseless to carry a grudge for years over some perceived grievance from the past. It is also bad judgment to relive over and over in our minds some failure or other perceived shortcoming from the past. The past is over and done with, and there is absolutely nothing we can do to change it.
Perhaps the greatest problem with this philosophy is determining which problems have a solution and which ones do not. In cases of doubt, it is best to err on the side of assuming that there is a solution. There is much we can do to improve our lives if we will only make the effort, and we must be careful not to assume there is no solution to a problem just to let us off the hook. But in those cases where there is clearly no solution, we must learn to accept the inevitable and get on with life.
Sometimes we encounter a brick wall blocking the pathway we are traveling. We have two choices. We can change course and take a detour around the wall, or we can just stand there and beat our head against the wall in a vain attempt to knock it down. Our heads are not designed for knocking down brick walls. They are designed for thinking, so we would be best served if we used our minds to analyze the situation and try to figure out the best way to get around the wall.
So as life’s problems come along, there will be solutions to some of them if we are willing to make the effort to find them. Other problems will clearly be beyond our control. So when there appears to be a solution we should “try and find it.” If there is no solution we should “never mind it.” When we are not sure whether or not there is a solution to a problem, we should operate on the assumption that there is a solution until we are proven wrong. Then we should accept the problem and go on living.
